SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA December 3, 2018

Pacific Eye is sharing the spirit of the holiday season with $10,000 in total contributions to local non-profit organizations this week as a result of its 7th annual Pacific Eye Gives Back Challenge. Thousands of Central Coast residents cast votes online and in Pacific Eye’s offices throughout November, with the top-three organizations capturing the largest donations.

Family Care Network, Inc. secured the $5,000 first-place donation in the contest. The community-based organization was established to provide clinical and treatment services and support to children and youth in a family setting, preferably their own, with the goal of enhancing their safety, well-being, and permanence, and to foster stable and self-sufficient families. The nonprofit served 1,865 children and families in a single year alone, and 89% of all revenue goes directly toward programs.

Following in second, Seneca Family Agencies earned a $2,250 donation in the Pacific Eye Gives Back Challenge. The Atascadero chapter of the non-profit helps children and families through the most difficult times of their lives by providing community-based and family-focused treatment services.

CASA of San Luis Obispo County came in third and will receive a $1,000 donation. The non-profit advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children within the court system by training volunteers with the goal of ensuring that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing, and permanent home.

The remaining seven organizations involved, Parents for Joy, The Wellness Kitchen, Bikers Against Child Abuse, Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens, Captive Hearts, the Morro Bay Art Association, and The Center for Family Strengthening will each receive a $250 donation.

The ten eligible organizations were selected from dozens of non-profits nominated by community members earlier this year. The eye care practice’s annual contest was designed to honor the outstanding organizations that make positive change visible on the Central Coast. 2018 marks the seventh year that the contest has been held.
